What was the hardest thing about the Palau Expedition for you?
I think the hardest thing about the Palau expedition for me was trying to do too much. I felt like nothing was getting done, so I would try to do everything and many things went undone. Towards the end of the trip, I gave more responsibility to Maddy and things started getting done. I think next year I need to remember that I can’t do it all. Also, I think the people we have going next year are really motivated to get things accomplished.
What was the hardest part of the Palau Expedition for the Team?
For the team, I feel like navigation and organization were issues. We weren’t prepared for either because we had never gotten as far as navigating search patterns in Palau. I think that just by practicing a lot this year, we won’t have a problem in Palau. Also, I think we can learn from our mistakes in Palau this year to improve our process for next year.
What is your favorite picture of you in Palau?
This is my favorite picture of me working in Palau. I really enjoyed working with the Deep Trekker this year because it was a new experience for me as well as a challenge. I was happy to get the opportunity to do more than just my usual marketing role. I was also really excited about that day’s mission and the opportunity to show someone else how the Deep Trekker works.
What is your favorite picture of the team working in Palau?
This is my favorite picture of the team working in Palau because it shows everyone working on separate tasks. The video box is being set up, GoPros are being organized, the Deep Trekker is being set up, and Jeremy is navigating. This picture shows how efficiently our team worked together to get things set up and working on the boat even in a cramped space. I am very proud of our teamwork this year, especially of the newbies that jumped in head first to the mission and learned that teamwork.
