Today our team was again separated into two groups.
Blake, Emma, Karly and Skeeter all went to Koror Elementary and the high school with Mr.
Nicholas, Mrs. Zemke and Matt from the Mate center.
While Jeremy, Maddy, Chloe, Luke and Mr. Richards went out on the boat to search the target Milkcrate.
(Karly): I went to the school's today. It was one of the most amazing experiences. We started by going to Koror Elementary and setting up the ROV class. Classes of around twenty came in and we were able to show them where we came from, what our students do and lastly how to build their own ROV. We were able to cycle through two classes before us students went to the public high school in Koror. Once at the high school we were able to tour the campus and sit in on a few classes, including a Literature class and Physics. It was crazy to see how similar our classes actually are. We ended our tour with eating lunch with our tour guides in the school cafeteria. After we finished lunch and the tour we headed back to the elementary school to finish up the last class and help clean up. Once we were cleaned up Emma and Karly returned to the hotel to relax and prepare for presentation that night at Sam's Tours, and Skeeter and Blake went shopping and out to lunch. At around 2:30 we all headed down to Sams' to build more ROV's with the students. Once the ROV's were built we took the students out to a sunken fishing trolley to test their ROV's. While we were out there we met up with the rest of our team, now ill let them tell you what they did during their day.
(Chloe): On the boat, we had a very successful day. Our goal for the day was to image the area of the sonar we call "Milk Crate." Our navigation, which we struggled with before, went very well. We put a shot line on our target and were spot on. We were able to drive the ROV down and image what we believe were the objects on the side scan sonar image. The objects definitely looked man-made to us, however we are unsure exactly what we saw. Next, we went over to the fishing trolley to meet up with the rest of the team and help with the kids.
(Karly): After we finished testing the kids ROV's on the fishing trolley the entire team met back up at Sam's to give a presentation and have dinner. Our presentation went smoothly and we were able to answer any questions the audience had.,With the presentation finished half of the team indentured to the hotel exhausted, the other half ate then returned to the hotel exhausted. All in all it was a very busy and successful day.
