Today was a very hectic and long day, which started with our daily briefing. We made sure to go over safety because a lot us got burned form the previous day. With the briefing over the boys put the robot together and the girls got all the GoPros together then headed to the marina where we met up with O TV. O TV was going to be out on the boat with us the entire day.
Before they started they gave us a briefing on what they wanted out of today. They told us how they wanted very tight shots and really wanted to capture emotion in each shot. We started the day by getting shots of the team walking down the dock and loading the boat, each shot had to be repeated multiple times in order to get the correct angle they wanted.
Once we got the all clear from the TV crew we were able tie everything down and head over to Sam's Tours to get the TV crew's boat. The crew boarded their boat then followed us out to the Jake SeaPlane. We set up pretty quickly then lowered the robot into the water. Our first driver, Luke, drove the robot back and forth in front of the boat so the crew could get the shots they needed. We then brought the ROV in to fix the buoyancy then sent it down to image the plane. The team was able to pilot the ROV for around 1 hour switching rivers every 15 minutes so the crew could get all the members driving. While down at the plane Jeff, from O TV, pulled the ROV under the Jake's wing to get some shots.
After getting the all clear again we were able to pack up and head to Sam's. At Sam's we picked up Jeremy. who just finished his scuba certification, and also grabbed some lunch.
O TV decided to end their day with us here. The lighting was getting to dark and they got the majority of the shots they needed in the morning. Also exiting the boat was Mrs. Zemke and Chloe who went to get postcards and grocery shopping. While they went shopping the rest of the team went back out on the boat to go search our next target, Omega. We drove over the target and the boat driver dropped an anchor, but after dropping his anchor he realized his anchor wasn't long enough. The team evaluated our options and decided to go over to a Japanese wreck to get the days use out of our boat and to have the team practice driving. At the ship the entire team was able to drive the ROV. We practiced driving and imaged the ship for around an hour before it was time to pack up and head for the dock.
The team unloaded all the equipment and brought it pack to the hotel so we could work on it the next day before we went out on the boat. We all split up for dinner and then went to bed. Tomorrow we are going evaluate the weather and decide what to do from there.
